What is the true meaning of ';That Summer'; by Garth Brooks. Is it really about sex or a metaphor?

The song is about a teenage boy who goes to work for a ';lonely widowed woman';, who was located out in the middle of nowhere ';A teenage kid so far from home';. One night, she comes to him wearing a dress ';she hadn't worn in quite a while.'; He is most likely referring to the dress as seductive and that he was the first one to see her in it in a while. He also notices a difference in her attitude. The two make love ';She had to ride the heat of passion.'; The song goes on to relate that years afterward every time he passes a wheat field, he remembers the summer with her. What is the true meaning of ';That Summer'; by Garth Brooks. Is it really about sex or a metaphor?

Its about a perveted woman and Im shocked that Garth even ever did a disgusting song about a woman and a young boy having sex.
The song was written by Brooks about when he was working as a ranch hand for a milf widow who took his virginity.

  1. Garth said the song really has nothing to do with him. He originally was thinking of writing a song where a single man and unhappily married woman meet at a party and escape away together. He was convinced people don't reall "cheer for" the woman in such scenarios and decided to write the song with his wife. While the story is Fantasy, Garth said he related to it as his first love in high school was a senior and he was younger.
