It means the real story wasn't that exciting so it was embellished and made far better than the original story....like what happened to me that one time.....It was a dark and stormy night and there were 12, no make that 15 evil brownies surrounding my house....What does based on a true story really mean?

The basis of the movie are taken from a real persons life but the details and Hollywood drama are all fictional. Take Domino for example- the true life part is that she was the daughter of a famous movie actor, her name was Domino Harvey, she became a bounty hunter. That is about it. The rest of that movie is all fictional.
It means a true incident happen and then someone made up a lie to create this movie about what could have happen.
It means there really was a guy with that name in history.
It means that the story really happened but with different people...


And maybe changed a bit...


So really inspired more like.
It means the story was the inspiration for the film, but that facts have been changed/added.
It mean that the story happen in real life,but names and some parts of the story were changed for security and context. Beside that they do not want to commit plagiarism.which means that they do not want to copy the other people work or they don鈥檛 want to say word for word what the other person say because that illegal.Sometimes is because the context of the true story is to strong and the people who are involved do not want their identity to be reveal, for their own safety.Also, most of the time they change the story a little bit to make more interesting and more fun.
it means a small amount of truth like the story will be based in the same city but the rest of it is made up
It meens someone is trying to make money on someones struggle or life.
