What does true, pure love mean?

i have recently given my life to the Lord and ever since have been bothered with the fact that Jesus was slaughtered like an innocent lamb willingly for a ever worsening world. i keep getting the same answer ';He did it because He loved us'; WTF?!?!?!? love means nothing to me can someone plz explain this is driving me freakin crazyWhat does true, pure love mean?
Jesus was born a man, but always knew that God was his father and that he was on earth for a short time to do things and give people hope. As he lived his life he soon found that people would believe in miracles, but would rarely come to believe in God the father of us all on their own so he turned over tables in places of worship and made himself a marter for what he knew was right. The most touching part of the love of Christ is when he became truely human for an instant, because it made him like us. In the Garden of Gethsemane he asked his father in heaven to take the cup of crucifixion (death) away and then regained his wisdom of being with and from God because their would be no hope for mankind had he not been crucified. It is in the deliberate act of doing what was appointed to him to do (die for the sinners) that you find the truest love. What we would call unconditional love. And because he did this we are all free and through grace given life eternal. We are set free and act in the truest love when we (like Jesus) love God our father, for though we never met God we hand our lives over to him and Jesus helps us do that by sending us the spirit of understanding. Try praying to God for the holy spirit to guide you towards understanding this question, in the name of Jesus. It may take a short while, but you will know more than others because you are seeking an answer.

what love means, philosophically, depends on what you think it means, and the context in which you use it. That's all. If you want a religious or social interpretation, wrong section.





I hear the same thing from christians in a different form, though. Namely, ';He died for your sins.'; or ';sacrificed himself to save the world.'; Hell of a lot of good that did, even if it were true. I still have to die and so does everyone else, and the world is still a festering pile of donkey's turds.





If the fact of Jesus being killed really bothers you so much, think of how many other people have died in much worse ways. Including almost everybody who was ever crucified. Most crucified people linger for days, Jesus was out of it in only a few hours.
Love is considering the self interest of another as though it were your own.








It is what allows us to form couples, groups %26amp; nations. In short, Love is the most important survival strategy life possesses.





If Christ indeed was God putting on human flesh, than his death means no more to me than an actor tearing his clothes...BUT





The teachings of Christ are timeless %26amp; profound...








That the totality of Law may be found in the principal of loving your neighbor.





That the hand of God is not the priest that says the prayer, but the stranger who binds your wounds.

well, put urself in this scenrio: if ur son, daughter, mother, or father were facing the death penalty, but u could save them by taking their place. would u? but before think about this, u'd probably take their place because u love them and have a kinda of optimistic love for them because u've grown a human emotional attachment 2 them (u know their TRUE nature, nature that we are not boxed into). so, by ur ';love'; and great sacrafice ur loved ones are able to live a few more days on earth. thats how i see it.

Jesus sacrificed himself to save us. During those old times, heaven is closed and only hell is there after death. But God loves us so He gave His only son. But he hates sin so
ok so he sacraficed his life because God and jesus love you so much! they care about u and want u to know that and spend eternal life with them and not go to hell full of hatetred!
