But there is freedom. We live with incredible freedom in the USA. We can insult our president, practice our own religion, print what we want to, go anywhere we want pretty much. In other countries鈥?this would get you killed鈥?I have learned that freedom has a different meaning to every single person. Everyone has a different view of what freedom means to them. It鈥檚 just what you believe it means. Love honeyDoes anyone know the true meaning of ';Freedom'; in the USA?
Yeah there are some millions of Yanks who know the true meaning of freedom but it isn't enough. So the states have a very limited sense of freedom and those who could do something about it are just as scared as those who have slowly eroded the freedoms of the United States.
The precedent is set; you might as well get used to it. It's like the cost of gasoline, it's not going to go down you know. The price of gas is set and they may give a few dimes or pennies back in the future, but don't expect $2.50 gallons ever again.
Right now the safety of the individual citizens of the United States is pretty well secure but the price you pay for it is ';freedom';. There is a lot lost to maintain your safety, and like the gas you buy; that is now the standard price so don't expect it to get better in a free sense.
Hello,
Freedom is the ability to express how you feel about a situation, but without the contradicting of another's freedom. This country hasn't lost it's sense of freedom, its simply become too politically correct. It use to matter as to what God wanted for this country and people made decisions based on morals, not on the capital they'll receive or the number of times their name gets mentioned. This country is great, like none other, but with the wrong mind-set of society is losing what was once the most important virtue it possessed.

I'm not from the USA... so maybe it's why I have a good idea about the true meaning of freedom.
Thing is that most don't even want to know the true meaning and scope of freedom because that means becoming 100% responsable for one's own life- from A to Z. Every choice, every actions, every thoughts...
Very, very few, despite what they might say, wants that. Everyone want to blame someone for what happens to them.
No one wants to be responsable.
Some blame the goverment and think they are the ones removing freedoms- they aren't. They just take what most people willingly give, out of perceived fear and insecurity, and a lack of taking responsability for furthering one's own education past the ';schooling years';.
If we can't bother to pay attention to our freedoms and fight for them ourselves, and would rather the gov. fight for our freedoms on our behalf- right there we have given up our fredom to the gov. And really don't deserve to be free.
In turn the gov. blames other countries, regimes or cultures for their lack of freedom...it's a vicious circle that only stops when one starts taking responsability, and stop blaming and attacking others, demanding they give us our freedom.
(btw-freedom is never given, it has to be taken. The only thing in this context that can be given, is ';permission';, which is required by somone who's not free.)
But it's much more ';glorious'; to be a victim...or so it still seems for many who revel in their helplessness and lack of freedom...eeerr, I mean lack of responsability.
';freedom 's just another word for nothing left to lose ....and freedom ain' nothin but it s free.'; k. kristoffesson via j. joplin. i think a lot of folks here have gotten so attached to their comfortable lives that they have willingly surrendered their freedoms to maintain the status quo. most folks don't seem at all troubled by the steady erosion of many civil liberties by the current administration. they fuss more about the cost of gas to fill up the suv to take them to the mall than they have about duplicitous government leaders who rob our treasury and abuse our most fundamental rights. and I've long wondered at those who believe the second amendment is an absolute right to bear assault guns able to wipe out dozens...with no government restriction ---but who are not only willing, but supportive, of government massacre of every other constitutional guarantee. wonder how much and how long the internet will be free? and does anybody care?
Freedom is the quality of an individual to act ethically despite persecution, ridicule, or bribery from others who try to move the person to act unethically.
The police state mentality is breeching on our freedoms. The underworld is also doing so ... what do we do ? I say prepair for the worst ! Read up ! !
Less government.
Slavery= 100% tax rate, so every percentage of taxes we pay equals a little less freedom.
freedom is apolitical word for those politicians for the sake of election, and then forget about
Obey the five large corportations that run the show.
